The Daybreak are a Toronto based four piece with the desire to bring melody and passion back to rock and roll. Influences include such bands as The Verve, The Stone Roses, Joy Division, The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, The Music, and other artists who created a sound and a scene of their own.
The Daybreak have played numerous large and successful live shows in many of Toronto's top venues including The Horseshoe Tavern and Lee's Palace. At each show the band played to the largest crowd of the acts present - larger at times than the turnout for some international major label acts at the same venues - and each show by The Daybreak has been larger than the last. At each performance The Daybreak seem to cultivate new fans while showcasing the unique sound for which the band is becoming widely known.
The band has been compared to many important and classic acts, with people likening The Daybreak to The Verve, Oasis, Coldplay, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, The Smiths, The Beatles, Radiohead and more. But while these associations have been made, every person also states that while sharing the best elements of these other acts, The Daybreak still retains a style and sound all their own, not falling into any of the current fads, yet totally accessible as any band out there.
Members of the band are Mike Dawson (Drums), Sumon Mukherjee (Vocals & Guitar), Pat Bramm (Bass) and James Bastable (Guitar).
